Georgios Vilos graduated from the German School of Athens (Dörpfeld Gymnasium) and then from the Dentistry School of the National Kapodistrian University of Athens with a grade of “Excellent” (1993). He specialized in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University Hospitals and Clinics of the Medical School of Birmingham, Alabama (1997-2001). He holds a master’s degree “A Master of Science from the Dentistry School of that same University. The subject of his thesis is: “The effect of maxillomandibular advancement on the sleep apneic airway – a retrospective helical CT study”.
He returned to Greece in 2001 and since then, he has practiced medicine in the private sector, in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He was trained as a Fellow in surgical oncology of the Head and the Neck at the Hellenic Anticancer Institute (“Agios Savvas” Hospital) for 6 years (2001-2007). In 2006 he became a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and he renewed his certificate in 2016/ In 2007 he became a Fellow of the scientific association I.T.I. (International Team for Implantology), while he has worked as head of education of the Greek department of ITI from 2012 up to 2016. He is a member of the Hellenic Association for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the Association of Dental and Oral Research.
He has published papers in Greek and international scientific journals and has given numerous speeches in Greece and abroad on issues related to the surgical treatment of the syndrome of the obstructive sleep apneas, in surgical implantology, as well as restoration of jaw abnormalities with implants of hard and soft tissues. He is the scientific head of the oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Bioclinic of Athens and is a surgeon at the Bioclinic of Athens, Athens Medical Group, and the Metropolitan General.
